T. Skorman Productions and Blues Traveler

January 16, 2010
APA celebrates another successful event with our long-time friend and client, Mr. Paul Creighton of T. Skorman Productions.
The event was held poolside at South Seas Plantation and Resort in Captiva, FL which in turn is also oceanside. The stage was tucked between two different pools so the load-in of the band’s gear was a bit tricky as there was only about 4 feet of space to wheel the road cases into place. One misstep and we would have been waist deep in the pool!
With the ocean as the backdrop, our production manager, Darryl Phillips, determined that our “boxes of troy”, which are custom-built internal lift systems housing JBL VRX line array speakers and subwoofers, coupled with turbosound NuQs as side fills would provide the best and clearest acoustic coverage for the attendees. We wanted the sound “loud and proud” for Blues Traveler.
In addition to the audio production, APA provided the stage lighting. We had two overhead sticks of truss with par cans and four (4) MAC Entours to create some texture and flash but not too much flash as this band, as it should be, wants the music to shine through more than anything.
APA also provided eight (8) stage hands to load-in the bands gear. Blues Traveler has quite a collection of vintage gear which does require a little extra TLC. Not to mention that the load-in path was a hearty ¼-mile push.
The evening was a resounding success with Blues Traveler doing an encore set which wrapped up just minutes before the sky decided to open up and produced a deluge of rain on the load-out.
