Smooth Jazz Under The Stars

April 24, 2010
WLOQ and Abelardo Management were expecting record crowds at this year’s Smooth Jazz under the Stars Festival. It was very important to Sonny Abelardo, owner of Abelardo Management, to have an audio system that would completely cover the venue and the crowd. After several successful events together and a rocking demonstration with our new Turbosond rig, Mr. Abelardo knew that Atlantic Professional Audio, Inc would be an ideal choice to handle this event and the all-star line-up. This year’s talent was Alex Bugnon, The Rippingtons featuring Russ Freeman and Boney James.
Audio
Fourteen Turbosound TFA-600HDP were flown with eight TSW-218DP Subs and four Turbosound NuQ-12DP as front fills. We used a mono delay feed to send signal to two Turbosound Aspect TFA-500DP self powered loud speakers which were used as delays 350 feet from the stage. We also brought in two Yamaha PM5D mixing consoles per the headliner’s request; one for monitor world and the second one for FOH.
Lighting
The first act went on at 5:45 PM so the first two acts were drenched in sunlight, but come night fall; our lights were in “full effect”. Basic stage wash was created with 36K of par bars enhanced with eight Vari-lite 2500 movers.
All in all a great show and another successful event...life is good!
