Gainsville Community Playhouse

March 2004
Atlantic Professional Audio provided a custom sound system solution for the Gainesville Community Playhouse during its construction. Working closely with theater designer Dave Twombley throughout the planning phase ensured that the system design would address both current and future needs of the theater.
The system was designed around a Yamaha DM1000, chosen for its pristine digital sound quality, full automation, configurable routing, and small footprint. Custom designed Eurocable snakes manage signal flow: 24 inputs / 8 outputs on the stage and 18 inputs / 6 outputs in the orchestra pit. Focusrite OctoPre's fitted with ADAT optical outputs were chosen for mic preamps and Alesis M1 active monitors delayed to mains by Behringer Shark DSP 110's were installed in the sound booth.
Turbosound TCS-59's (left/right), TCS-40 (center), and TCS-215 (sub) speakers were flown under the catwalks in the auditorium for even and consistent sound coverage, while TCS-20 front fills were mounted under the stage lip. Amplification is by QSC, equalization by BSS Opal Graphic EQ's, and digital speaker management is from a Turbo-LMS D4.
Other items include Sennheiser wireless microphones, a Tascam CD player, and a Furman power sequencer that turns on/off the entire system to prevent accidental pops.
Theater manager Twombley had this to say upon completion of the installation: "Atlantic Pro Audio was my first choice for the sound system in our new theater facility. They provided expert advice and designed a system that was within our budget. Even when faced with some serious challenges during the installation they went the extra mile and finished on schedule. Our audio is top notch and has worked flawlessly every night. These guys are committed to a quality product and it really shows in their work."
