Calvary Chapel Viera Install

November 13, 2009

Greg Branch, the head audio technician at Calvary Chapel Melbourne, was in charge of finding a company to do a complete design-build for a new satellite church in Viera, FL. When Greg Branch and Craig Beyrooti met, the audio talk began and an alliance was formed almost instantly.

APA was hired to design the main PA for the sanctuary of the new church and also create a building-wide distribution system. The distribution system required auxiliary racks in the green room and book store so that each had building feeds and local sound. Tascam’s new CD-200i allowed us to keep up to date with its build-in iPod dock and Yamaha’s 280MA amplifier gave us the small footprint each space needed to stay in. Further, the bookstore system can provide the audio feed for the distributed system, allowing the bookstore staff to provide content during normal business operation. Three Lab Gruppen C-Series amps provide the muscle of the system and a BSS Soundweb provides the brain. Ninety-eight Tannoy ceiling speakers finish the system.

To maintain budget and make the best use of CCM’s current inventory, some of the existing gear from Calvary Chapel Melbourne was to be supplemented with new gear. Craig worked with the people from the church to design and re-design over the course of a year. In the end, the main PA consisted of twenty-eight Yamaha Nexo Geo S805’s and four S830’s from the main campus in Melbourne. Also brought from Melbourne were six Camco Vortex amplifiers with Nexo controllers and a Yamaha PM5D for FOH. Eight Crown CTs 1200’s were used for the powered monitor system, though primary monitoring is provided through the new Aviom system.

Thanks to Calvary Chapel Melbourne for their continued support, Greg Branch and Caleb Luper for their assistance and ideas and Welsh Construction, the General contractor, for their help with resource management and scheduling.
